Griesbeckerzell is a district of the city of Aichach in the district of Aichach-Friedberg , which belongs to the administrative district of Swabia in Bavaria .
The district also includes the villages of Hiesling and Hofgarten , the hamlet of Neuhausen and the wasteland of Knottenried . Only a few years before the incorporation of Griesbeckerzell into Aichach, the village of Edenried was added, which had been an independent municipality up until then.

The official spelling of the place name was Griesbekerzell until 1875 , then Griesbäckerzell and has been set to Griesbeckerzell since 1951 .

geography

Griesbeckerzell is located in the Danube-Isar hill country and thus in the Lower Bavarian hill country , which belongs to the Alpine foothills , one of the main natural areas of Germany .

Griesbeckerzell is about six kilometers west of the city of Aichach. Hofgarten is located directly southeast of Griesbeckerzell. Edenried and Neuhausen are to the west and Hiesling and Knottenried to the north of Griesbeckerzell.

history

The Catholic parish of St. Laurentius in Griesbeckerzell belongs to the deanery Aichach-Friedberg in the diocese of Augsburg. Hofgarten also belongs to the parish. The parish church is a flat-roofed hall building with a retracted choir from 1837.
The Catholic parish of St. Vitus in Edenried also belongs to the Aichach deanery. Neuhausen and Pfaffenzell also belong to the parish .
Hiesling and Knottenried belong to the parish of the Assumption of Mary in Aichach.

On January 1, 1972, the previously independent community of Edenried was incorporated into Griesbeckerzell as part of the regional reform in Bavaria . On July 1, 1972, Griesbeckerzell (previously in the Aichach district ) came to the newly founded Aichach-Friedberg district (until April 30, 1973 called the Augsburg-Ost district ). On January 1, 1978, Griesbeckerzell was finally incorporated into the city of Aichach.
