St. Sebastian in Aichach

The St. Sebastian Chapel is a monument in Aichach . It is a single-aisled building under a spear cap barrel , the core of which is still late Gothic .

At the time of the plague , which raged particularly badly in the area from the end of the 16th century, St. Sebastian was often asked for help. 1484 a chapel was consecrated in Aichach in honor of St. Sebastian by the Augsburg auxiliary bishop and titular bishop Adramyttium Ulrich Geislinger . After extensive destruction in the Thirty Years' War , it was rebuilt in 1656. In 1794 the building was expanded. For the 100th anniversary in 1756, 37,000 people came to Aichach in 56 processions . Every year since 1985 there has been a procession from the parish church of the Assumption to the Sebastian chapel.
