Georg Albertshofer

Georg Albertshofer (born October 19, 1864 in Neuburg an der Donau , † August 11, 1933 in Munich ) was a German sculptor .

Life

Albertshofer studied at the Munich Art Academy under Wilhelm von Rümann and then worked for a few years in Ferdinand von Miller's studio . Later he was self-employed in Munich. In early 1910 he was awarded the title of professor .

The biography and catalog raisonné as well as the still existing bozzetti and models are being developed by the art historian Alexander Rauch (Munich / Leipzig); the project is not yet completed.

The monument stood on Max-Bram-Platz until 1961, then on Innspitz, and was moved to Herbststrasse in 2007.

  • around 1912: Lion sculptures on the main portal of the main customs office in Munich, Landsberger Straße (architecture by Hugo Kaiser and Otto Leitolf )
  • 1912: Fountain in the Dallmayr office building in Munich (architecture by Eugen Hönig and Karl Söldner)
Fountain with a group of sculptures in the form of two children holding a large fish; In this context, the figure of a boy with a fruit basket shouldered was also created for the delicatessen store Dallmayr.

  • 1913–1920: Competition design for an Elias Holl memorial in Augsburg
The competition was announced in 1913, but it was not decided until 1920. Albertshofer's design received one of two first prizes, but the design was carried out by the sculptor Resch and the architect Landauer.
