Karl Stöhr (architect)

Karl Stöhr , also Carl Stöhr , (born May 21, 1859 in Hohenberg an der Eger , † October 14, 1931 in Nesselwängle ) was a German architect and building contractor .

Life

Karl Stöhr founded the construction company Karl Stöhr in 1885 , from which Südhausbau emerged as a subsidiary in 1936 . The Südhausbau was the first private housing association in Bavaria and is still family-owned.

In 1925 Stöhr was awarded the honorary title of Privy Councilor of Commerce .

Karl Stöhr's grave is in the old part of the Munich forest cemetery .

Stöhrstrasse in Munich- Solln has been named after him since 1956 .

Since Karl Stöhr worked both as an architect and as a building contractor, it is not clear whether he can be considered the author of the artistic design for many building projects .

  • 1925–1927: Ludwig-Richter-Höfe in Munich, Agnes-Bernauer-Strasse 1–7 (odd numbers), Lautensackstrasse 6–16 (even numbers), Ludwig-Richter-Strasse 20, 22, 24 and Schedelstrasse 1– 12, 14 (under monument protection)
