Lower Gate (Aichach)
The Lower Gate in Aichach , the district town of the Aichach-Friedberg district in the Bavarian administrative district of Swabia , was built in 1418. The city gate at Stadtplatz 2 is a protected architectural monument .
history
The lower floors of the octagon were built in 1418. The pointed helmet dates from 1646 after the damage was repaired during the Thirty Years War . The side passages were created in 1864. The clerk used to live upstairs.
A branch of the Munich State Archaeological Collection has been housed in the tower's rooms since 1989 .
