Ola Fløttum

Ola Fløttum (born August 5, 1972 in Oslo ) is a Norwegian composer .

Life

Together with Ulf Rogde and Hans Christian Almendingen, with whom he had previously played in a common band, Ola Fløttum founded the slowcore band The White Birch . Together they released four albums and one EP by 2005. A fifth album followed in 2015 with The Weight Of Spring , but only by Fløttum himself, without the collaboration of his two former band members.

During his time as a band, Fløttum composed music for several short films and after the last album, released in 2005, he made his debut as a film composer for feature films with his music for Auf Anfang . Since then he has shown himself to be responsible for the music of over 30 national and international film projects, including Oslo, August 31 , Force Majeure and Bright Nights . For his music to the mystery thriller Thelma , directed by Joachim Trier , he was awarded an Amanda for best film music in 2018 .

Fløttum is married to the actress Ellen Dorrit Petersen . The couple have two children together, a son and a daughter.
