Olaf Glöckner

Olaf Glöckner (* 1965 in Karl-Marx-Stadt ) is a German historian specializing in Jewish history .

Life

Olaf Glöckner studied Israel Studies , Modern History and Jewish Studies at the Humboldt University Berlin and the University of Potsdam (MA). Afterwards he spent longer research stays and journalistic trips to Israel. In 1998 he worked on the New Lexicon of Judaism . Since 2003 he has been a research assistant at the Moses Mendelssohn Center for European-Jewish Studies in Potsdam, where he is in charge of the research focus “Sociology of Judaism”. a. occupied with modern Jewish migration, German-Israeli relations and new forms of anti-Semitism. In 2010 he received his doctoral thesis Immigrated Russian Jewish Elites in Israel and Germany at the University of Potsdam . Integration, Self-Image and Role in Community Building for Dr. phil. PhD. At the University of Potsdam, Glöckner teaches at the Historical Institute and at the Institute for Jewish Studies and Religious Studies. Glöckner is the author of books and specialist articles and also wrote for the "Israel" dossier of the Federal Agency for Civic Education (bpb).
