Hans Heinrich Ludwig von Rohr

Hans Heinrich Ludwig von Rohr (born July 29, 1719 in Wilmersdorf ; † June 26, 1792 in Demnitz ) was a Prussian lieutenant general and most recently chief of Dragoon Regiment No. 6 and Drost von Kranenburg in Kleve .

Life

origin

His father was Christian Ludwig von Rohr (1669-1740), march commissioner of the Lebus district, and his wife Barbara Sophie, née von Göllnitz (* 1680, † after 1739).

Military career

In 1734 Rohr became a Junker in the “von der Schulenburg” dragoon regiment . From there he went on April 21, 1741 to the Dragoon Regiment "von Bissing" . During the First Silesian War he took part in the battle of Mollwitz and in the sieges of Brieg and Neisse . On June 6, 1742 he was promoted to ensign . In the Second Silesian War he fought in the battles of Hohenfriedberg and Kesselsdorf , took part in the siege of Prague and became second lieutenant on May 6, 1745 . After the war he was promoted to Prime Lieutenant on November 27, 1754 . During the Seven Years' War that followed , Rohr took part in the battles near Prague , Kolin , Torgau and the capture of Dresden .

At that time he was on November 12, 1757 staff captain and on July 24, 1760 major and squadron chief . After the war he became a lieutenant colonel on May 30, 1772 . On January 23, 1775 Rohr became commander of the "von Wulffen" dragoon regiment. There he became a colonel on May 22, 1775 and as such took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession . On January 14, 1782 he was then chief of the cuirassier regiment "von Hoverbeck" and on September 22, 1782 he was promoted to major general . Furthermore, Rohr became canon in Magdeburg on October 28, 1785 and Drost von Kranenburg in Kleve on July 28. On December 16, 1787, he switched to the "von Posadowsky" dragoon regiment as chief. Most recently he became lieutenant general on May 19, 1789 with a patent from May 20, 1789. On April 8, 1790, he received his resignation with his pension of 1200 thalers because of his poor health . Rohr also received permission to wear his regiment's uniform on April 24, 1790. For this he was awarded the order Pour le Mérite .

He married Christiane Charlotte Gottliebe von Kessel on September 1, 1763 in Schwoitsch, Breslau district (* June 4, 1740, † November 26, 1804 in Demnitz). The couple had the following children:
