Olaf Köller

Olaf Köller (* 1963 in Kellinghusen ) is a German psychologist .

Life

From 1984 to 1991 he studied psychology , anthropology and philosophy at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel (CAU) . After graduating as a psychologist in 1991, he worked as a research assistant at IPN Kiel until 1996 and then from 1996 to 2001 at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development in Berlin . In the meantime, he obtained his doctorate in 1997 at the CAU. phil. and completed his habilitation in 2001 at the University of Potsdam as Dr. phil. habil. From 2001 to 2002 he worked as a research group leader (C3) at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development in Berlin and then moved to the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg as a professor for educational psychology, where he remained until 2004. This year he became the founding director of the Institute for Quality Development in Education Berlin (IQB) and professor for empirical educational research at the Humboldt University in Berlin . In 2009 he moved back to Kiel, where he has been director of the educational science department at the IPN and at the same time professor for empirical educational research at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel. Since December 2009 he has also been the Executive Scientific Director of the IPN. Since 2016, he and Ilka Parchmann have been spokesperson for the Kiel Science Outreach Campus (KiSOC), which aims to promote collaboration between university and non-university research. The KiSOC is one of seven newly approved Leibniz ScienceCampuses in Germany in 2016 . They enable Leibniz institutions and universities to collaborate on a thematic focus in the sense of an equal, complementary, regional partnership.
