Olaf Schmidt (stunt pilot)

Olaf Schmidt (* 1962 in Osterholz-Scharmbeck ) is a German aerobatic pilot with gliders. His main occupation is a Boeing 737 pilot .

Life

Schmidt joined the Bremen Aviation Association at the age of 13 . V. and received his first glider license at the age of 16. At the age of 21 he became a flight instructor in his club. He has been doing aerobatics since 1987. He started on a Pilatus B4 .

In 1994 he took part in his first glider aerobatic competition and in 2001 he became a member of the national glider team of the German Aero Club . Since then he has participated in several European and international championships with his Swift S-1 .

  • 2006: EGAC Poland, team competition bronze medal
  • 2006: Open Dutch Championship, 1st place
  • 2008: DM glider aerobatics, 2nd place

His best result at the 2007 World Cup was fourth place and the silver medal in the team classification together with Markus Feyerabend and Eugen Schaal.
