The Olanger Stausee (also Welsberger Stausee , Welsberger See or Olanger See , Italian Lago di Valdaora ) is located in the upper Puster Valley in South Tyrol . It dams the river Rienz at a height of up to 1055 m and reaches an area of up to 44 ha. The reservoir is used to generate energy. In addition to the water from the reservoir, the associated hydropower plant in Bruneck-Olang also uses fittings on the Rienz tributaries, the Antholzer Bach , Brunstbach , Furkelbach and Wielenbach .
