Olav Bruvik

Olav Bruvik (born November 22, 1913 in Haus , Osterøy municipality ; December 30, 1962 ) was a Norwegian trade unionist and politician of the Arbeiderpartiet . From February 1961 until his death he was the social minister of his country.

Life

Bruvik worked as a blacksmith from 1930 to 1935 before starting an apprenticeship in the textile industry . He worked for his training company until 1944. In 1945, following the German occupation of Norway, he received the Deltagermedalje , a medal that was distributed to Norwegian combatants. From 1945 to 1949 he was the deputy chairman of the Norwegian textile workers' association Norsk Tekstilarbeiderforbund , of which he was then chairman until 1962. From 1949 to 1962 he was also a member of the textile industry council.

On February 18, 1961, he was appointed Minister of Social Affairs in the Gerhardsen III government. He held the office until his death on December 30, 1963.
