Oldřich Bubeníček (born January 5, 1953 in Ústí nad Orlicí ) is a Czech politician, since November 20, 2012 he has held the office of Hejtman of the Ústí region . He is a member of the KSČM .

After attending school in his hometown, he worked in a glassworks . In 1974 he joined the KSČ and later became a district official in Teplice . In the 1990s he was the district chairman of KSČM in Teplice and between 1995 and 2008 he was editor of the Haló noviny newspaper . Since 1990 he has also been a member of the city council in Bílina . In 2000 and 2006 he ran unsuccessfully for the Czech Senate .

In 2004 Bubeníček was elected to the regional parliament of the Ústí region for the first time , to which he has belonged ever since. In the regional elections in 2012 he was the top candidate of his party, with approx. 25% accounted for most of the votes. In an alliance with the Social Democrats , he was elected as the new governor (Hejtman) of the region. Bubeníček is the first Hejtman in the Czech Republic to be elected to such a position as a member of KSČM .

After the successful local elections for KSČM , he also took over the office of mayor of his hometown Bílina in 2015 .
