Oldrich Halma
Oldřich Halma (born December 10, 1907 in Přerov , † March 21, 1985 in Uherské Hradiště ) was a Czech choir conductor and composer.
In 1939 Halma became a bass player in the Moravian Teachers Choral Society (Pěvecké sdružení moravských učitelů - PSMU). He later became second conductor and in 1972 after Ferdinand Vach , Jan Šoupal and Antonín Tučapský the fourth chief conductor of the choir. The high point of his work at the PSMU was a concert at the Prague Spring in 1975. He was succeeded by Lumír Pivovarský . Halma also directed an amateur symphony orchestra and the Svatopluk choir in his hometown of Uherské Hradiště. His arrangements of folk tunes from the Moravian-Slovak border area became very popular in Czechoslovakia and are often performed by amateur choirs.
