description
The Old Ancrum Bridge was built in the late 18th century. The masonry viaduct spans the Teviot with three lined segmental arches , of which the northern one runs exclusively over the flat bank. With the construction of the new Ancrum Bridge a few meters downstream in 1939, the Old Ancrum Bridge became obsolete. While the A68 coming from Darlington in England and leading to Edinburgh crosses the Teviot over the new bridge , there is only one spur road that is negligible today in terms of traffic technology.
