Oldenburg error analysis

The Oldenburg Error Analysis ( OLFA ) is an instrument recognized in learning therapy for diagnosing spelling problems for grades 1 to 9, which groups the spelling errors of a learner according to orthography-theoretical aspects and weights them according to developmental psychological criteria. Further diagnostic tests are, for example, the Aachen funding diagnostic spelling error analysis (AFRA) or the general German language test (ADST). According to the developer, OLFA enables a valid and diagnostic-relevant survey of the individual spelling skills and performance profile , especially in the case of major spelling difficulties, spelling weaknesses or disorders ( LRS / dyslexia ). In addition to a funding recommendation in text form, many helpful lists and diagrams can be created online via OLFA that can be printed out.

The results of an error analysis should form the basis of a therapy specially tailored to the learner, as it identifies the individual spelling problems and the support planning can be tailored to precisely these areas. This avoids practicing unaffected spelling phenomena and the learner receives support with a high level of accuracy. By creating tables and diagrams, she also provides graphic support for the promotion, as all learning progress can be made clearer, which in turn leads to an increase in motivation. Since the analysis is based primarily on freely formulated texts (e.g. on previously written German essays), the test situation that may be very stressful for the learner is eliminated.

In the area of ​​promoting dyslexia, OLFA is used to determine the student's error profile at the start of therapy in order to be able to use this as a reference point for any improvements in the course of therapy. The OLFA is described as complex, but differentiated and well thought out. Methods such as the Marburg spelling training or others are then used to train the student.
