Ole Jacob Bangstad

Ole Jacob Bangstad (born April 9, 1917 , † June 2, 2010 in Bærum ) is a Norwegian biathlon official and senior military officer.

Bangstad was for a long time President of the Biathlon Association (1960–72) within the Norwegian Sports Association , of which he was also president from 1973 to 1984. He was also represented on international bodies for a long time. From 1965 to the end of 1976 Bangstad was a member of the Executive Committee of the Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne et Biathlon (UIPMB), the predecessor organization of the International Biathlon Union (IBU). He was an honorary member of the IBU. Bangstad, who lived in Eiksmarka , was a member of the Norwegian armed forces until he retired . Most recently he held the rank of major general . From 1971 to 1979 he was Inspector General of the Norwegian Army .
