The oldest evidence of the construction of the church can be found in a letter of indulgence from Bishop Daniel von Verden , dated June 27, 1353 , who granted the craftsmen and workers involved in the construction of the church in Bispingen an indulgence of forty days. 1406 was the baptismal font of the church created that now in the St. Anthony's Church - the so-called new (Bispinger) Church is -. An extension of the church building is documented by a bar inscription for the year 1587. Another expansion took place in 1647 shortly before the end of the Thirty Years War . In 1648 the baroque pulpit was completed, which is also located in the new church today.

After the inauguration of the new Bispinger Church (St. Antonius Church, 1908), the building served as a parish hall. From 1965 it was initially unused and should be demolished. Suggestions for the conversion as a library were not implemented. After the old rectory had been repaired from 1967 to 1973, the old church was thoroughly renovated in 1972/73. The costs of over 285,000 DM were borne by the parish of Soltau, the Soltau district , the Bispingen community, the Hanover monastery chamber and the Hanover regional church office . New lead glass windows were created by the painter Siegfried Steege (Schwarmstedt). Altar cross, candlesticks and antependia were also created based on his designs . The current antependium with the singing bird is a gift from the partner community Dresden-Hosterwitz from the former GDR. The renovated church was consecrated on December 22, 1973. Since then, the Ole Kerk has been used as a chapel again. a. for baptisms, weddings and concerts.
