Oleg Estis

Oleg Estis (* 1964 in Moscow ; † 1999 in Pinneberg ) was a Russian artist and cartoonist.

Life

Estis is the son of the artist Nikolai Estis (* 1937 in Moscow) and brother of the writer Alexander Estis (* 1986 in Moscow). He graduated from an art school, as well as the Moscow State Academic Art School. Since 1985 he has been a member of the Russian Artists Association. He was a participant and winner of Moscow, Soviet and international exhibitions and competitions.

Oleg Estis first published his cartoons at the age of 13. From then on, his works were featured in Russian and foreign publications. From 1977 onwards he worked for the publishers “Detskaja Literatura” (“Literature for Children”) and “Malysch” (“Little Child”) in Moscow and for “Satukustannus” and “Karto” in Finland.

His work has been published in the magazines Mursilka , Weselye Kartinki , Krokodil , Teatr and Zdorowje .

Around 30 solo exhibitions by Oleg Estis took place in Russia, Germany and other countries.

Works by the artist are in private collections and in the Museum of Modern Art of the Institute for Jewish Culture, named after Marc Chagall , in Brazil and in the permanent exhibition of the International Museum of Humor in Gabrovo ( Bulgaria ).

Oleg Estis spent the last years of his life in Pinneberg .

  • 1988: Prize of the Youth Committee at the 3rd Inter-Republican Caricature Exhibition in Riga.
  • 1989: third place at the cartoon exhibition "Literary Hero" in Moscow.
  • 1991: Grand Prix at the International Caricature Competition in Belgium.
  • 1991: first place in the international music competition.
  • 1993: first place at the International Festival of Press Drawings in Brazil.
  • 1999: first place in the International Caricature Competition in Belgium.
