The Usarp Mountains are an almost 200 km long mountain range , which runs in north-south orientation on the western flank of the Rennick Glacier in the north of the East Antarctic Victoria Land. In the north it is connected to the Pryor Glacier and the Wilson Hills and essentially consists of the Pomerantz Tafelland , the Daniels Range , the Emlen Peaks , the Helliwell Hills and the Morozumi Range .
The first aerial photographs of this mountain range were taken during Operation Highjump (1946–1947). The geodetic survey was carried out by the United States Geological Survey and using aerial photographs of the United States Navy from 1960 to 1963. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named the Usarp Mountains in 1964 after the acronym for the U nited S tates A ntarctic R esearch P rogram .
