The Emlen Peaks are a group of scattered mountain peaks and nunatakkers in the north of the East Antarctic Victoria Land . They extend over a length of about 26 km and a width of about 11 km in the Usarp Mountains .
The geodetic survey was carried out by the United States Geological Survey and using aerial photographs of the United States Navy from 1960 to 1963. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it after the biologist John T. Emlen (1908-1997) from the University of Wisconsin , the between 1962 and 1963 carried out studies on the migration behavior of penguins, particularly in the Ross Dependency .
