Benji & Fede is an Italian pop duo from Modena , consisting of Benjamin Mascolo (born June 20, 1993 ) and Federico Rossi (born February 22, 1994 ).

Career

The two young musicians met on the Internet and then decided to form a duo. As Benji & Fede , they first published covers on YouTube . Both came from Modena, but since Mascolo was in the meantime spending two years abroad with relatives in Hobart , Australia , they were initially mainly in contact via the Internet. In 2014 they tried to compete in the newcomer category of the Sanremo Festival , but they did not make it through the preselection. As a result, they tried to involve their fans more on social networks, which allowed them to increase their awareness. During a series of appearances in public places initiated by a radio station, they were discovered by a talent scout from Warner Music Italia and signed by the major label.

In the summer of 2015, the single Tutta d'un fiato and an appearance at the Coca Cola Summer Festival made the duo even better known. Their debut album, produced by Andy Ferrara and Marco Barusso, was released in early October. The title 20:05 is derived from the time Rossi first contacted Mascolo. The album was able to reach the top of the Italian album charts right away . The next single was Lunedì , and a first tour followed. At the Sanremo Festival 2016 , Benji & Fede performed together with Alessio Bernabei on the third evening . On March 31, they published the autobiographical book Vietato smettere di sognare (“Stop dreaming forbidden”). Together with the Spanish singer Xriz , they recorded a new version of his song Eres mía in June , with which they were launched for the first time for the Spanish and Latin American markets and immediately reached the top 10 of the single charts in Italy.

On October 21, 2016, the second album 0+ (pronounced Zero positivo ) was released, which was preceded by the single Amore Wi-Fi . The album also included duets with Max Pezzali and Annalisa . In 2017, Tutto per una ragione (the duet with Annalisa) was one of the summer hits in Italy. The third album Siamo solo noise reached the top of the charts again in 2018. The summer hit Moscow Mule emerged from this. The next summer hit Dove e quando , produced by Merk & Kremont , finally brought the duo their first number one hit in 2019. In October, the duo's fourth album was released under the title Good Vibes , again a number one album.
