Oleg Evgenjewitsch Swerew ( Russian Олег Евгеньевич Зверев ; born January 11, 1949 in Tomsk ) is a Russian conductor .

Life

After studying at the Saint Petersburg Conservatory , he was first chief conductor of the Altaj State Symphony Orchestra in Barnaul and general music director of the Russian State Philharmonic in Irkutsk / Siberia, with whom he toured Russia, Japan and Western European countries as well as making guest appearances at festivals. In 2002 the orchestra he directed was recognized as one of the best in Russia by the editorial staff of the Moscow magazine KULTURA.

Guest conductors have taken Oleg Zverev to Japan, Australia, Germany, Poland, the USA and Switzerland. As part of his concert activities in Russia, he has given concerts with the St. Petersburg Philharmonic and in the Rimsky-Korsakov Opera Studio in St. Petersburg, as well as with the Tchaikovsky Radio Symphony Orchestra in Moscow and the Omsk Symphony Orchestra. On the occasion of opera conducting, he was a guest at the Mussorgsky Theater in St. Petersburg and the Novosibirsk Opera .

As a teacher of master classes, he was guest in Eugene / USA and Melbourne / Australia, where he also conducted the orchestra of New Monash University Melbourne at the First International Mahler Festival. He has also worked to promote young musicians in projects with the Polska Orkiestra Sinfonia Iuventus in Warsaw, the orchestra of the St. Petersburg Conservatory and the Barnaul Youth Symphony Orchestra, which he founded.

Since the 2012/13 season, Zverev has been Artistic Director and Chief Conductor of the Symphony Orchestra of the Russian State Philharmonic Ulyanovsk ( Ульяновский Государственный Aкадемический Cимфонический Oркестронорструброструброструбрострорструброструбрострон Гукестронорский Oркестронорстрий Гукеструбростростр .

In 1996, Zverev was awarded the title 'Honored Artist of the Russian Federation' for his work.
