Oliver Bierschenk

Oliver Bierschenk (* 1975 in Berlin ) is a German theater director .

Bierschenk completed his theater studies with Gerda Baumbach and Rudolf Münz in Leipzig and Vienna and also studied communication and media studies as well as German. After completing his studies, he was employed as an assistant director at the Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz , where he worked with directors such as Thomas Ostermeier , Armin Petras and Tom Kühnel .

In addition to working with houses of the independent scene, Oliver Bierschenk has worked as a freelance director since 2004 at the Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz , Maxim-Gorki-Theater , Meininger State Theater , Landestheater Tübingen , Theater & Orchestra Heidelberg , Theater der Junge Welt Leipzig, Schauspielhaus Bochum , Theater & Philharmonie Thuringia , Theater der Altmark in Stendal. With his interpretation of Alfred Jarry's King Ubu , he was nominated for the finals at the II International Festival for Theater Directing in Trento in 2007.
