Oliver Blume (born June 26, 1964 in Delmenhorst ) is a German songwriter and dentist.

life and work

Oliver Blume grew up in Northern Germany. Shaped by his musical role model Joan Baez , he began to write his own songs at the age of 18, which he presented at smaller concerts. Studying human and dental medicine took him to Budapest . It was here that the Hungarian music producer Gabor Presser noticed him and gave him the opportunity to record his first album Pictures (1991). At the same time, the Hungarian musician Zoran had great success with songs by Oliver Blume - he received a gold and a platinum record. Despite his successful musical debut, Blume decided to work as a doctor at the University Clinic in Freiburg. Since 1997 he lived in Solingen . In the same year he released his second album Watering a Rose .

In 2001 he moved to Munich and opened his own practice for oral and maxillofacial surgery. In 2002, Better Late Than Never was his third and for the time being last English-language album. With the single Budapest , released exclusively in Hungary, he reminded of the opening of national borders, which was so important for a united Europe. Under the name of Flower and Friends , the two singles, Leben (2003) and Jamming forbidden (2004), were published in which he criticized society. Due to the success of the two titles, he decided to continue to write his texts in German.

In January 2005 he wrote the musical homage Romy to the actress Romy Schneider . In the same year an exclusive author and management contract was signed with Multiplay Music Germany . At this point, the collaboration with the producer Davor Drezga began for the album Come closer . The Globe Art Group signed Oliver Blume to release this album. It contains ten new original compositions and is due to appear in January 2008. The title 1001 Nights was recorded in a duet with the Bavarian dialect singer Claudia Koreck .

stylistics

Blume's songs are somewhere between the music of classical songwriters such as Reinhard Mey or Wolf Biermann and the new German chanson and songwriter scene. The texts cover a wide range. Funny everyday anecdotes are described as well as feelings and serious social issues.

social commitment

After various humanitarian missions in North Africa, Indochina and South America, Oliver Blume has been building a center for the treatment of children with cleft lips, jaws and palates at the University of Mbarara in Uganda for five years with the help of Interplast-Germany . At the same time, local doctors receive training here. Since 2007, Blume has designed and published the “People-Children” calendar every year. The entire sales proceeds go to the KIKUS project, which makes it easier for children with a migrant background of preschool age to learn the German language.
