Oliver Brock

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Oliver Brock (* 1969 ) is a German computer scientist. His work focuses on robotics and the field of artificial intelligence . He explores the algorithmic fundamentals that enable robots to autonomously perform complex actions in a dynamic environment. Findings from machine perception, gripping and machine learning are combined in a robot system. His research is interdisciplinary; so he collaborates z. B. with psychologists and behavioral researchers. In addition, he conducts research in the field of computational biology, including the prediction of protein structures and their movements.

Brock studied computer science at the Technical University of Berlin (Diploma 1993) and at Stanford (Master 1994). After receiving his doctorate in 2000, he was co-founder and CTO of the internet startup AllAdvantage.com. A research stay took him to Rice University in Houston. In 2001 he returned to Stanford and in 2002 he moved to the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. In addition to his teaching activities, he headed the laboratory for robotics and biology there. In 2009 he accepted an Alexander von Humboldt professorship at the TU Berlin.
