Oliver Röller (born November 20, 1967 in Landau in the Palatinate ) is a German biologist, naturalist, environmental educator and nature book author.

Professional background

Röller studied biology and chemistry from 1989 to 1995 for a high school teaching post at the University of Oldenburg . He wrote his thesis on grassland types of different types of use in the Palatinate Forest-Vosges du Nord biosphere reserve . He completed his doctoral thesis on the anthropogenic influence on moss vegetation at the Haardtrand in the Palatinate Forest Mountains in 2002 at the University of Koblenz-Landau . From 2001 to 2015 he was managing director of the natural history and conservation association Pollichia . Röller reported on first discoveries or rediscoveries of rare animal and plant species in Rhineland-Palatinate and Germany, in 2014 on the rediscovery of the green goblin moss in Rhineland-Palatinate and in 2017 on the discovery of the Atlantic mountain bug by a resident in Limburgerhof (southwest Germany).
