Olivier Gérard , pseudonym oLi dE ZAT (* 25. September 1973 in Nancy ) is a French guitarist and one of the composers of the New Wave - rock group Indochine .

biography

Gérard, initially a fan of the band Indochine himself, sent a dozen cassettes with remixes of the band's songs to Nicola Sirkis in 1997 . To test it, Jean-Pierre Pilot and Nicola Sirkis suggested that he draft the songs Rose Song and Juste toi et moi for the album Dancetaria . The drafts were more than convincing and Gérard finally arranged the entire album.

Originally he was responsible for the scrolling of Nicolas Prompter during touring, but quickly took an important place in the band.

He produced the album Paradize and composed 11 of the 15 songs. Since the Paradize tour in 2002 he has appeared on stage and, together with Sirkis, produces and composes the majority of the songs that can be found on Indochine's albums.

He is married to Valérie Gérard, a painter / illustrator who illustrated the second edition of Nicola Sirki's book Les Mauvaises Nouvelles .

Trivia

His pseudonym, oLi dE SaT , comes from being the designer of the cover for the single Satellite . Since the release of the album Alice & June , he has also been nicknamed Le Chat sur Mars .
