There's No Stopping Us , a dance- oriented track that became a top 10 hit in the US and UK . Her hit was also heard in the film Breakin ' and featured on the film's soundtrack album. Since the single was not commercially successful, the duo became a typical one-hit wonder .

history

Ollie Brown and Jerry Knight worked as studio musicians before they formed the duo. At the time, Knight was a member of the Raydio R&B group. Both formed the duo Ollie & Jerry in Los Angeles , California in 1984 and signed a record deal with Polydor Records that same year . The song Breakin '... There's No Stopping Us was the theme song for the movie Breakin' (1984) and was released as the first single from the film's soundtrack album. The song became a hit, reaching the top ten in the US and UK charts in 1984. While the song became a hit, the duo sang their title in many TV shows, including Soul Train on American television. The soundtrack album also celebrated success and reached number 8 on the Billboard 200 album chart.

The following year the duo released their second single Electric Boogaloo , the theme song for the film Breakin '2: Electric Boogaloo , the sequel to Breakin' . In the British charts, the song reached number 57. However, the single did not make it into the American Billboard Hot 100 . After that, the duo did not release any more songs and became a typical one-hit wonder, as the second single nowhere near the success of the first single. In the same year 1985, the duo separated.
