The building with the postal address Olof-Palme-Platz 1 is a listed building on Olof-Palme-Platz in Stralsund , on the corner of the Fährwall , near the Kniepertor .

The three-storey plastered building with a tail gable was built in 1896.

The facade is designed in the neo-renaissance style. Rustic plasterwork , strong belt cornices , variously designed window frames and roofs as well as a console cornice under the eaves are among the elaborate design elements.

A three- story porch front building adjoins the courtyard side.

The house is located in the core area of ​​the city ​​area recognized by UNESCO as a world cultural heritage site of the “ historic old towns of Stralsund and Wismar ”. It is entered in the list of architectural monuments in Stralsund with the number 611.

The building belonged to Sarnowstrasse until this section was renamed . In its place previously stood a mill (“Kniepermühle”), and the one-story half - timbered house was used as an institution for the deaf and dumb from 1873.
