Fährwall (Stralsund)
The Fährwall is a city street in the city 's Old Town in Stralsund . The street connects the Fährstraße and the Wasserstraße with the Olof-Palme-Platz on the Knieperstraße and the Kniepertor . The lake road and the Johannis Choir road branching off from Fährwall; the latter then leads to the Seestrasse, which partially runs parallel to one another. The ferry wall is part of the core area of the UNESCO World Heritage Historic Old Towns Stralsund and Wismar .
The street is named after one of the Stralsund's fortifications , named the Fährwall and received its name in 1869. In 1910 she received the pavement , until then it was a dirt road.
Eight of the buildings are under monument protection (see also the list of architectural monuments in Stralsund ): the houses Fährwall 2 , Fährwall 4 , Fährwall 5 , Fährwall 6 . Fährwall 7 , Fährwall 8 , Fährwall 18 and Fährwall 19 . There is also the building complex Seestrasse 8 / Fährwall 16, which extends from Seestrasse along Johannischorstrasse to Fährwall.
The street is designated as a one-way street .
The Hansa-Gymnasium Hansestadt Stralsund , in front of which the dugout canoes from Stralsund were found in 2002 , the guard of the professional fire brigade and the Johanniskloster are located at the Fährwall . The parking garage at the port with 285 parking spaces was built from 2010 to 2011.
