The Fährwall is a city street in the city 's Old Town in Stralsund . The street connects the Fährstraße and the Wasserstraße with the Olof-Palme-Platz on the Knieperstraße and the Kniepertor . The lake road and the Johannis Choir road branching off from Fährwall; the latter then leads to the Seestrasse, which partially runs parallel to one another. The ferry wall is part of the core area of ​​the UNESCO World Heritage Historic Old Towns Stralsund and Wismar .

The street is named after one of the Stralsund's fortifications , named the Fährwall and received its name in 1869. In 1910 she received the pavement , until then it was a dirt road.

Eight of the buildings are under monument protection (see also the list of architectural monuments in Stralsund ): the houses Fährwall 2 , Fährwall 4 , Fährwall 5 , Fährwall 6 . Fährwall 7 , Fährwall 8 , Fährwall 18 and Fährwall 19 . There is also the building complex Seestrasse 8 / Fährwall 16, which extends from Seestrasse along Johannischorstrasse to Fährwall.

The street is designated as a one-way street .

The Hansa-Gymnasium Hansestadt Stralsund , in front of which the dugout canoes from Stralsund were found in 2002 , the guard of the professional fire brigade and the Johanniskloster are located at the Fährwall . The parking garage at the port with 285 parking spaces was built from 2010 to 2011.
