The Olstad Glacier ( Olstadbreen in Norwegian ) is a very rugged glacier on the west coast of the West Antarctic Peter I Island . It flows into the Bellingshausen Sea 3 km south of the Tofte Glacier .
The whaling ship Odd I in the service of the Norwegian whaling entrepreneur Lars Christensen circled Peter I Island for the first time in January 1927. Christensen's ship Norvegia was used in February 1929 to explore the island. The glacier is named after the Norwegian zoologist Ola Olstad (1885–1969), who participated in the first two Antarctic voyages of the Norvegia (1927–1928 under Captain Harald Horntvedt (1879–1946) and 1928–1929 under Captain Nils Larsen (1900–1976)) to South Georgia , the South Shetland Islands and the Palmer Archipelago .
