The men's Olympic water polo tournament at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo will take place from July 26th to August 9th, 2020. The venue will be the Tatsumi International Swimming Center .

A total of twelve teams will take part. There are two preliminary round groups with six teams each; each team plays once against the other five. The four best placed in both groups will play against each other in the quarterfinals. The quarter-final winners advance to the semi-finals, while the quarter-final losers play placement games. After all, the winners of the semi-finals play for the gold medal, the losers for the bronze medal.
