Om Mehta
Om Mehta (born February 20, 1927 in Kishtwar , Jammu and Kashmir , † February 12, 1995 ) was an Indian politician .
Om Mehta initially headed the Chamber of Commerce in Kishtwar and was elected as a member of parliament in 1957 and 1959. In 1964 he became a member of the Indian federal parliament for the Congress Party and took over the Ministry of Aviation and Transport from 1971 to 1973, from 1973 his area of responsibility was extended to the Ministry of Development. From 1974 to 1977 he was Minister of the Interior in the emergency government of Indira Gandhi . During his tenure, several important measures to promote the infrastructure of the Doda district were initiated, including electricity and water supply and road links.
