It contains a compilation of the best Kinks songs from the 1970s, especially from the previous albums Misfits and especially Low Budget . With the songs " You Really Got Me ", " All Day and All of the Night " and " Lola ", the album also contains rock pieces that have made music history and that could be heard at almost every Kinks concert. All of the songs were composed by Ray Davies .
" Lola " was released as a single .
The album was recorded at several concerts in the USA and the concert on November 11, 1979 in the Volkshaus in Zurich. After completing their concept album phase, the Kinks had far more success there than in their home country England , but Davies also played a bit of history, because he had the new Kinks keyboardist Ian Gibbons record the parts on some tracks that the disgraced Gordon did Edwards had played on stage.
The album was praised by critics as one of the best live records of 1980, although it was always pointed out that the recording quality does not match the quality of the recorded pieces, because Ray Davies mixed too much in the studio.
