Mart de Groot
Mart de Groot (born November 13, 1938 in Leiden ) is a Dutch astronomer .
Mart de Groot worked at the Utrecht University Observatory until 1970 (where he received his doctorate on P Cygni in 1969 ) and then at the European Southern Observatory in La Silla ( Chile ) until 1976 . From 1976 until his retirement in 2001 he worked in Northern Ireland at the Armagh Observatory , which he also served as director from 1976-1994. His main area of research was variable stars .
