The Onezhskiye nunataks ( Russian Скалй Онежскиье Skali Oneschskije ) are a small group of Nunatakkern in East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . In the Mühlig-Hofmann Mountains they rise 15 km north-northeast of Slettefjellet . The largest nunatak in this group is the Storkvarvstein .
Norwegian cartographers mapped them using measurements and aerial photographs of the Third Norwegian Antarctic Expedition (1956–1960). Soviet scientists re-mapped it in 1961 and named it after the Russian River Onega . The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names carried over the Russian name in an adapted partial translation into English.
