Onofrio Bramante

Onofrio Bramante alias Brahms (born August 3, 1926 in Milan , Italy , † June 22, 2000 in Monopoli , Italy) was an Italian painter and cartoonist .

life and work

Bramante, who had received training in classical painting, made his comic debut in 1949 with the King Prater series on texts by Gian Giacomo Dalmasso . This was followed by the comics Falcon Wild and Silver Pitt for the publisher Tomasina. In the 1950s and 1960s Bramante drew numerous western and humor comics, including for the Italian Mickey Mouse version Topolino published by Mondadori . In the second half of the 1970s he gave up drawing comics and devoted himself to painting.

In the German-speaking world, comics by Bramante have appeared in Walt Disney's Funny paperbacks .
