Operation Dragon Strike

The Operation Dragon Strike (German "Dragon Strike") was an operation of NATO Troops in the province of Kandahar in southern Afghanistan . The offensive began between September 19 and 26, 2010 and ended on December 31, 2010. There were at least 8,000 US , Canadian and Afghan soldiers involved in air support. The operation was originally scheduled to begin around June 2010.

The aim was to drive the insurgents out of Arghan dab , Zhari and Panjwai .

Strong resistance was reported. The main operation was preceded by minor preparatory actions. In addition, according to the US government, efforts were also made towards civil and political development.

The operation was mainly led by units from the 101st Airborne Division .

By the end of the operation, numerous villages had been completely destroyed by the Allies during their clean-up operations.

Victim

The deaths of 34 US soldiers, one Canadian soldier and at least seven Afghan police officers were reported.
