Operation Joint Forge

The Operation Joint Forge ( Engl. For use "United Forge" ) is the name of a NATO -Militäreinsatzes by SFOR Troops in Bosnia , which began on June 20, 1998, on 2 December 2004 by the transfer of responsibility to the EUFOR in Camp Butmir in Sarajevo ended ( Operation Althea ).

Operation Joint Forge replaced the previous Operation Joint Guard as part of a structural change and downsizing of the SFOR troops deployed. At the same time, the leadership for the mission was handed over from NATO to the 1st Cavalry Division of the US military .

The task of Operation Joint Forge was to continue the stabilization of peace and internal and external security in the region that had become necessary as a result of the Bosnian war .
