Sub-operations of Operation Bodyguard to deceive the Axis powers

Operation Zeppelin was an Allied deception during World War II . It was part of Operation Bodyguard , which had the task of concealing the real place and date of the landing in Normandy on June 6, 1944 from the German High Command , and was organized in a similar way to the better-known Operation Fortitude , which invaded the Pas de Calais should pretend. With the successful landing in northern France, the operation became obsolete .

The operation was intended to lead one to believe that an Allied landing would take place in Crete , Greece or on the Romanian Black Sea coast . To this end, the Allies faked the existence of the 9th, 10th and 12th Armies in Egypt by means of bogus radio communications and regular exercises.
