features

The flies reach a body length of 3.4 to 4 millimeters. Their body has a yellowish base color. The head is yellow, the lower face and cheeks are white, the antennae are red-yellow. Your third link is often brownish above and in front. The thorax and the mesonotum have two brown converging stripes that are indistinct at the front. The male's abdomen is glossy black and either has yellow front corners on each segment, or is yellow with a black, narrow rear center line. The abdomen of the females is black except for the seventh tergite , the rear edge of which is yellow. The legs are yellow. A black-brown border runs on the wings from the mouth of the vein R1 to the mouth of m. The cross veins are also lined in such a way that a spot of the same color runs over the cross vein Tp. The swinging bulbs ( holders ) are yellowish. The species can be confused with Opomyza florum , whose abdomen and legs are colored yellow.

Occurrence and way of life

The animals are found in Europe. The larvae develop in panicle grasses ( Poa ).
