Opuntia salvadorensis is a species of plant in the genus Opuntia ( Opuntia ) from the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet salvadorensis indicates the place where it was found in Salvador.
description
Opuntia salvadorensis has low shrubbery, is richly branched and spread out on the ground. The smooth, flattened, circular to elongated shoot sections are 10 to 15 centimeters long. The areoles are small. The mostly three unequal, thin, needle-like thorns are up to 6 inches long.
The yellow flowers reach lengths of up to 2 centimeters.
Distribution and systematics
Opuntia salvadorensis is common in El Salvador in the Usulután department .
The first description by Nathaniel Lord Britton and Joseph Nelson Rose was published in 1925.
