The Kanazawa orchestra ensemble ( Japanese オ ー ケ ス ト ラ ・ ア ン サ ン ブ ル 金 沢 , Ōkesutora Ansanburu Kanazawa for English Orchestra Ensemble Kanazawa ) is a professional Japanese chamber orchestra with around 40 international musicians.

history

The orchestra was founded in 1988 and headquartered in Kanazawa in Ishikawa Prefecture . The orchestra is a regular member of the Japanese Orchestra Association . The founder and first musical director was Hiroyuki Iwaki , who led the orchestra from 1988 to 2006 and who was followed by Michiyoshi Inoue in 2007 as musical director. The orchestra gives around 100 concerts at home and abroad every year. With around 90 CD recordings, it is particularly dedicated to contemporary classical music .
