Order of St. Jacob (Netherlands)

The order of St. Jacob (lat. Equites divi Jacobi Belgici) was a Dutch knightly order .

It was donated by Count Florens V in The Hague in 1290 . The order was only established for 12 knights . The knights swore an oath on the gospel . The Dutch herald Johann Payport then hung up the shields with the coats of arms in memory in the hall of the palace in The Hague.

Order decoration

Two decorations have survived.

The sign of the order consisted of a gold chain set with six shells, from which a medal with the image of St. Jacob hung.

The sign of the order was an eight-pointed cross with the image of Saint Jacob in the medallion and hung on a shell through which the ribbon was passed.
