The Italian Military Ordinariate ( Ordinariato militare per l'Italia ) is a military ordinariate in Italy and is responsible for the Italian armed forces .

history

The Italian military ordinariate provides pastoral care to members of the Italian armed forces of Catholic denominations. It was made by Pope Pius XI. established on March 6, 1925 as a military vicariate . By mutual agreement between the Holy See and the Republic of Italy, the seat of the Italian military ordinariate is in Rome . It was raised to a diocese on July 21, 1986 by Pope John Paul II with the Apostolic Constitution Spirituali militum curae .
