Vincenzo Pelvi (born August 11, 1948 in Naples ) is an Italian clergyman and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Foggia-Bovino .

Life

The Archbishop of Naples , Cardinal Corrado Ursi , ordained him a priest on April 18, 1973 . Pelvi received his doctorate theologiae from the Pontifical Theological Faculty of Southern Italy . At this faculty he taught theology from 1974 to 1996. From 1979 to 1987 he was the head of the pastoral office in the Archdiocese of Naples. Under Archbishop Michele Cardinal Giordano he was Episcopal Vicar for the north of Naples from 1988 to 1996, later he became Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Naples.

Pope John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop in Naples and titular bishop of Thinisa in Numidia on December 11, 1999 . The Archbishop of Naples , Michele Cardinal Giordano, gave him episcopal ordination on September 23 of the same year; Co- consecrators were Agostino Vallini , Bishop of Albano , and Ciriaco Scanzillo , Auxiliary Bishop Emeritus in Naples. Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on October 14, 2006 military archbishop of Italy .

Pope Francis accepted his resignation as military archbishop on August 10, 2013. On October 11, 2014, he appointed him Archbishop of Foggia-Bovino . The inauguration took place on December 13 of the same year. In the Italian Episcopal Conference , Pelvi is a member of the Episcopal Commission for Culture and Mass Media.
