Francesco Pio Tamburrino OSB (born January 6, 1939 in Oppido Lucano , Province of Potenza , Italy ) is an Italian religious and emeritus Roman Catholic Archbishop of Foggia-Bovino .

Life

Francesco Pio Tamburrino entered the Benedictine order after his school days and made perpetual profession on October 11, 1955 . He studied Catholic theology and philosophy at the Pontifical Athenaeum Sant'Anselmo in Rome . On August 29, 1965, Tamburrino received the sacrament of ordination . In 1966 he earned a diploma in specialized Patristic and in 1970 he became a doctor of theology doctorate .

Then Francesco Pio Tamburrino became novice master , librarian and treasurer of the Novalesa monastery . During this time he was also a delegate for the religious of the diocese of Susa . In 1988 Tamburrino became Professor of Catholic Theology at the Pontifical Athenaeum Sant'Anselmo in Rome and Deputy Prior of the International College of Sant'Anselmo. On November 29, 1989 he was elected abbot of the Montevergine Territorial Abbey and on January 20, 1990 the election was confirmed by Pope John Paul II . In addition, Francesco Pio Tamburrino became secretary of the Liturgy Commission of the Italian Bishops' Conference .

On February 14, 1998, Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Teggiano-Policastro . He was ordained bishop on March 25, 1998 by the Archbishop of Naples , Cardinal Michele Giordano ; Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Salerno-Campagna-Acerno , Gerardo Pierro , and the Archbishop of Benevento , Serafino Sprovieri . Tamburrino chose the motto is Ut omnes unum sint ("That all are one") and comes from the Gospel of John ( John 17.11  EU ). On April 27, 1999, Pope John Paul II called Francesco Pio Tamburrino to the secretary of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Order of the Sacraments and bestowed on him the personal title of Archbishop. On August 2, 2003, Pope John Paul II appointed him Archbishop of Foggia-Bovino.

He is prior of the Foggia Commandery of the Order of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem .

On October 11, 2014, Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation.
