Domenico Umberto D'Ambrosio (born September 15, 1941 in Peschici ) is an Italian clergyman and emeritus Roman Catholic Archbishop of Lecce .

Life

Domenico Umberto D'Ambrosio was ordained a priest on July 19, 1965 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Termoli-Larino on December 14, 1989 . The Pope personally donated him episcopal ordination on January 6 of the next year ; Co-consecrators were Giovanni Battista Re , substitute for the State Secretariat , and Miroslav Stefan Marusyn , Secretary of the Congregation for the Eastern Churches . As a motto he chose Misericors et Fidelis .

On May 27, 1999, he was appointed Archbishop of Foggia-Bovino . On March 8, 2003 he was appointed Archbishop of Manfredonia-Vieste-San Giovanni Rotondo . Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on April 16, 2009 Archbishop of Lecce.

Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on September 29, 2017.
