Michele Seccia (born June 6, 1951 in Barletta ) is an Italian clergyman and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Lecce .

Life

Michele Seccia studied at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome and was ordained a priest on November 26, 1977 . After working as a parish priest (until 1992) he became vicar general of the Archdiocese of Trani-Barletta-Bisceglie-Nazareth in 1987 , which he remained until 1997.

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of San Severo on June 20, 1997 . The Apostolic Nuncio in Italy and San Marino , Archbishop Francesco Colasuonno , donated him episcopal ordination on September 8 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Carmelo Cassati MSC , Archbishop of Trani-Barletta-Bisceglie-Nazareth, and Giuseppe Casale , Archbishop of Foggia-Bovino . As a motto he chose Adiutor gaudii vestri .

On June 24, 2006 he was welcomed by Pope Benedict XVI. appointed Bishop of Teramo-Atri and introduced to the office on September 8 of the same year.

Pope Francis appointed him Archbishop of Lecce on September 29, 2017. The inauguration ( enthronement ) of Seccia took place on December 2nd of the same year.
